Seismic – NPC / SPC

Sobin-Harte Architects provides expertise comprehensive architectural evaluations and seismic corrections.  We have provided extensive surveys for multiple facilities, assembled Seismic Assessment reports for OSHPD review and approvals.  These identify the extent of seismic improvements required for individual buildings for SB 1953 compliance.  Construction documents are developed with detailed phasing to implement seismic corrections in multi-story hospital buildings. Seismic Renovations are phased to maintain Healthcare Operations, to provide continuity of care, and to maintain Fire-Life-Safety measures at all times.  Seismic upgrade scope includes move management, planning, and implementation.  Seismic Corrections range from the structural reinforcement of beams, connections, and columns, as well as to upgrading anchorage of essential and non-essential.  Plans for VSI (Voluntary Seismic Improvements) at each facility were phased and staggered in accordance to SB 1953 OSHPD mandated calendar for compliance. This requires critical scheduling of plan development and construction duration to facilitate timely implementation of required seismic upgrades.  Seismic Assessment Reports included planning for decommissioning of acute care buildings that could not be made compliant, we provided planning services for conversion of these spaces to non-critical uses, outpatient care or other services.
